It has come to the time of the year where new beginnings happen for everyone. Yes, I am talking about The New Year. I had the great opportunity to return back to the Michelin starred restaurant; FOO’D by Davide Oldani and be part of a great celebration of joy and happiness to end off the countdown for the New Year, 2018.
The restaurant, with its high ceilings and Corinthian columns, located within the iconic Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall was no stranger to me at all. Arriving to the fully booked 150 capacity restaurant, I couldn’t wait to bring what I had installed for the people so I actually arrived earlier than my usual early of 30 minutes before. I was greeted by the sweetest smiles and cheerful faces of the familiar staff despite being busy. The ambience is classy, exquisite and vibrant and what a better way to accompany good tasty food than with good Magic.
I made my way into the restaurant and I found a table of 3 in the middle to be my first to begin with. With their amazing laughter and applause upon my first trick where I made a solid billiard ball appear before their eyes, I knew they definitely enjoyed themselves although one claimed that they probably had too much wine but still, looking at each other wide-eyed wondering at how the solid billiard ball appeared from thin air. To no surprise, slowly the other tables knew that there were more than just a few drinks going on at this table as I proceeded to display my effects one after the other.
Once I was done, I could see different tables looking at me with a burning desire in their eyes for me to go to their tables and of course, I eventually did so. The last few hours to the New Year sped by like a freight train into minutes as soon as my last table got to experience the Magic I had shown to them, everyone slowly got up to walk out to see the fireworks on the very last minute.
Although there was a drizzle of rain, right outside the restaurant porch, we had a nice view of where the fireworks would happen. The guests gathered together outside with people who came over to take shelter from the rain and within seconds there were screams and shouts of congratulations as soon as the first firework shot off in the dark sky. It was truly mesmerizing and a delightful moment.
The fireworks display was indeed a wonderful way to end off the last day of the year but it was way better when I had the different guests to be coming up to me, thanking and appreciating what they have experienced that very night. I truly, am thankful to know that I have created more than a positive experience within their hearts which could have been any other normal night of celebration, but it indeed turned out to be an extremely memorable night for everyone.
As most people took pictures, gave hugs and thanks with some slowly leaving the venue. I too, had the chance to take some photos with the guests and wonderful staff. I stayed on longer than usual to show some more to the staff including Asia's ranked no.2 Sommelier in the house, so if you guys want to find good wine, find him! Extremely humble and knowledgeable man :) I too, also went to the people at the bar for a little more before I left. Here is a snippet to see what happened at the bar.
The last night of 2017 has been more than Magical and I hope everyone out there who reads this had a good one as well.
With that all of us here in Meta Illusions, wish everyone a very Happy New Year and a blessed 2018 to come! :)
